About INIHE

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 highlights a strong focus on the internationalization of Higher Education in India. Emphasizing on initiatives to attract international students, the goal is to make India a preferred study destination for affordable quality education, while promoting ‘internationalization at home.’ The policy encourages research/teaching collaborations, faculty/student exchanges, and MOUs with foreign universities for creating a global academic environment.

The Indian Network for Internationalisation of Higher Education (INIHE), an initiative of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), is dedicated to advancing the internationalization of higher education by offering a structured platform for universities and other higher education institutions (HEIs). INIHE serves as a consortium of HEIs, focusing on fostering global academic collaboration through networking, joint teaching and research initiatives, student and faculty mobility, and exchange programs. It aims to create a dynamic hub that facilitates connection and coordination among universities worldwide, promoting international academic partnerships and the growth of internationalization efforts.

INIHE aims to reach out to all higher education institutions having interest in academic partnerships and internationalization to become members of this network. INIHE seeks to enrol universities, higher education institutions, international educators, other international and national networks, individual faculty, administrators, research scholars, and heads of apex bodies as its members.
